The journey begins

I realized one day that I was getting older…even close to retirement in the next few years. We’ve gone on vacations in the U.S, mainly with the various National Parks as destinations, going on hiking trails, etc.

Through the years, I’ve also been a big fan of Maureen O’Hara.  She always seemed to have such class and dignity. Favorite movies include McClintock, Big Jake and my most favorite “Quiet Man” which was filmed in the area of Cong, Mayo County, Ireland.

Then the Starz series “Outlander” came out and I was completely hooked and a bit obsessed with the series which takes place in 1743 Scotland. I had never really imagined traveling outside of the U.S. and then, one day, I thought “Why not?” Shortly after that, I found out my sister-in-law, Kelley and friends of ours Steve and Terri were talking about going to Ireland and Scotland! It was like it was meant to be.

In preparation, I ordered several books, “Ireland for Dummies”, “Scotland for Dummies” (Yes, there is a “Dummies” book for everything!!) Watched movies about Ireland – Water horse, P.S. I Love You, –
Went to Celtic Woman Concert and bought their CDs.    Celtic Woman

First blog post

Do you have a dream of traveling to Ireland or Scotland or both? Then come along on my journey, on the trip of a lifetime, to the Emerald Isle and my beloved Scotland!

From Bunratty, Ireland to the Aran Island of Inisheer and along the Cliffs of Moher by ferry. From there the journey takes us into Dublin and  the Glens of Antrim along the coast of Northern Ireland. Spend 2 nights in Belfast where we will take a Black Taxi tour, visit the Titanic Museum and walk across the Carrick-a-Rede bridge before heading to the Giants Causeway and to hear about the tale of the giant Finn McCool.

I hope you enjoy the journey. I know I did!
